It isn't a well know fact, but Santa Claus invented tinsel!
A long ,long time ago... He was  using a machine to make pressed
 tin for a toy and it did something wrong. 
It pressed the tin way to thin.. Santa tossed the thin  tin
over by the christmas tree and went to bed. When they elves
saw it there they picked it up to throw it away and it fell on the tree.
It looked so beautiful they left it there to show Santa. The magic lights made it
sparkle and shine. The called it tinsel--actually they called it  "tin-sil",
short of tin and silver.

They called Santa to come look. Oh by golly, he was
pleased with himself and tinkered with the machine to
get it to crank out alot of tinsel. For many years he loaded it
up with the toys and delivered it to the homes of good
boys and girls. He would sprinkle it on the tree just before he left.

Soon factories started making it and when he went to home
after home they already had some on the tree. He still keeps a
package on the sleigh and when he comes to a house with
no shiny tinsel he leaves them some.

Santa has done so many wonderful things. That's why we
love him so much!!  Some day we might write a whole book
about him. We know you would love to read it.
